In Ukraine begin to consider the percentage of the Russian language in the media

The president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has established the so-called language quotas for media in the country. It is first and foremost about quotas for television and radio stations. The president thanked the media that the introduction of such quotas it asked. From Poroshenko's statement published on Facebook president:thank you members of the media for the suggestions on quotas and the return of the ukrainian language in the ukrainian media.

It is their initiative and proposals that i supported. The deputies have worked, and i had great pleasure and great honor to sign the law. This decision of the ukrainian mova became protected in Ukraine. Nobody is against television sounded other languages, but it is unacceptable that the share of ukrainian language on any ukrainian channel was 15, 20, 25%. The quota for tv and radio stations is now at least 75% of the ether. The law signed by Poroshenko:television and radio broadcast in the state language, minority language, regional languages or in the language of international communication.

Transmission and (or) films in the ukrainian language needs to be at least 50% for regional television and radio companies and at least 75% for the nationwide broadcasters. After the adoption of the law on the ukrainian tv viewers and radio listeners have wondered who and how will count the number of words in the ukrainian language in all tv channels and radio stations in the country? for this purpose the supervisory authorities of Ukraine will have to hold a special (large) group of responsible people. Moreover, there is no answer to how to live, where the invited guests during the program to switch from ukrainian into Russian and back several times. Many experts in Ukraine agree that the law is more populist – aimed at comforting the ego of the radicals than on the actual tracking of implementation of language quotas.
