The head of the French nuclear submarine Barracuda Suffren type went to trial

French head multipurpose nuclear submarine, Suffren ("Suffren") new project Barracuda the beginning of the factory sea trials. 27 April 2020 submarine first went to sea from the waters of the Arsenal of the French shipbuilding enterprises Naval Group in Cherbourg.

The Submarine, Suffren departed the shipyard in Cherbourg on 27 April and 28 April did the first test dive out of the waters of the shipyard. Earlier it was reported that the submarine had to go to the factory sea trials in early March, but the release was postponed because of the quarantine imposed on the company due to the pandemic coronavirus. According to the plans shipyard, the transfer of the submarine was to be held this year, but now the deadline is not negotiable. Currently at the shipyard in Cherbourg at various stages of construction are four more submarines of this project.
The Submarine, named "Suffren" in honor of the French Admiral Suffren de Saint-Tropez, was built more than 10 years. It was founded in December 2007, was launched on July 12, 2019.
Submarines of this series must be replaced in the French Navy, the ageing submarine type Rubis, built between 1976 and 1993.
