Introduction by Russia of quotas on grain exports caused alarm in the world

The Russian Government imposed restrictions on grain exports. Now Russia will export no more than seven million tons of grain a year, instead of 43.3 million tons, as before. The most part sent abroad for grain was wheat and 35 million tons.

This decision of the Russian authorities concerned a number of international organizations. There is fear that it will interfere with the established system in the world food supply.
In addition to wheat, Russia's exports of corn, barley and rye. Limit the export of these crops abroad is due to considerations of food security in a pandemic coronavirus. Presumably, the quota will be valid until July.
In Moscow believe that you first need to meet the domestic demand in grain. Russian authorities stress the importance of cereal crops for domestic consumption. The government wants to avoid deficiency of this products and prevent the growth of prices for it.

The restrictions will not affect the volume of grain exports to Belarus and Kazakhstan, since these countries are members of the EAEU.

Their discontent by the decision of Moscow was expressed by the world health organization and the world trade organization.
