Czech Republic refuses Yak-40
The Minister of defence of the Czech Republic Lubomir Meter announced the conclusion of a package of agreements aimed at improving the combat readiness of the armed forces of the country. All were signed three contracts for a total amount of almost CZK 4 billion (176,6 mln.).

For the funds they plan to buy two transport aircraft С295, to modernize 33 tanks T-72M and purchase the flight planning system.



According to the Military Balance, currently the country's armed forces have 30 units of the T-72М4CZ. Another 93 T-72 tanks are stored. Apparently, it is one of them will be upgraded to 33 cars.

The Army of the Czech Republic must increase its transport capacity and replace old Yak-40

- Meter said, adding that the new aircraft will be "more economical, more range and more modern systems than those that have been acquired previously."

At the moment, consisting of transport aircraft is two Yak-40, which is now abandoned. The defense Minister pointed to the reliability and low operating costs of the current four C295, which are used by the Czech army for training of personnel and the transport of dignitaries.
