Latvia is purchasing from Denmark Stinger MANPADS

The minister of defence of latvia raimonds bergmanis in an interview with "Morning panorama" on one of the local channels said that latvia and Denmark have signed the contract for delivery in riga portable anti-aircraft missile complexes american production stinger. Bergmanis in this case did not specify the details of the contract: not named nor the amount, nor the quantity purchased from the danes manpads. Information portal delfi quoted latvian defense minister:the amount of the transaction is not very big, but we got enough weapons. It is very important for the development of our armed forces. We will be able to more effectively defend their country if the need arises.

Bergmanis added that initially it was assumed that the missiles will arrive in latvia this year, however, "Because of the need to settle all the forMalities" (words bergmanis) supply can be carried out in 2018. The representatives of the latvian public organisations of latvia tried to figure out how manpads, the height of the goal which does not exceed 4 km, can be effective in modern conditions.
