According to scientists, it is impossible to overestimate the merit troyanova that Russia occupies a leading position in the world in the design and construction of reactors on fast neutrons, which are necessary for the development of nuclear energy. He was engaged in the work of settlement and physical justification of "Fast" reactors bor-60, bn-350 and bn-600, participated in the design of bn-800 reactor. The experimental reactor bor-60, since 1969, working in Russia is a unique research setting needed to conduct a range of studies in support of design and engineering decisions for reactors on fast neutrons. The world's first power unit with fast neutron reactor bn-350 with an installed capacity of 350 megawatts was launched in 1973 on the east coast of the caspian sea in the city of shevchenko (now aktau, Kazakhstan).

"Part of the thermal power of the reactor used to generate electricity, the rest went to the desalination of sea water. This unit worked until 1998 – five years longer design lives. Experience of creation and operation of this installation allowed us to understand and solve many problems in the field of breeder reactors with liquid metal coolant, sodium," – said in the institute. In 1980 at beloyarsk npp was commissioned the third unit of this station with the bn-600 reactor with an installed capacity of 600 megawatts, it reliably works to this day. This unit not only generates electricity, but also serves as a unique base for tests of new structural materials and nuclear fuel. For his great contribution to the development of the technology "Fast" reactors in 1978, together with other participants of works on creation of reactor bn-350 trojans were awarded the state prize of the ussr, and in 1982 for the bn-600 – lenin prize.

He was also awarded the order of labor red banner and the medal "For labour valour". In 1994 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored worker of science and technology of the Russian Federation".
