The federation council intends to ask the president of the Russian Federation with a proposal to consider the possibility of introducing sanctions against Poland and the polish parliamentarians for the adoption of the law mandating the dismantling of monuments to soviet soldiers, reports RIA Novosti. Please consider the imposition of measures of a restrictive nature in the spheres of bilateral cooperation with the republic of Poland and the polish parliamentarians who initiated the law banning the promotion of communism or another totalitarian regime, and other physical and legal entities, according to a draft statement. The federation council also intends to invite the president "To demand from the polish side of the strict implementation of the provisions of the treaty between Russia and Poland on friendly and neighbourly cooperation of 1992 and the intergovernmental agreement with Poland on the graves and places of memory of victims of wars and repression of 1994". Practical actions for implementation of the law after its entry into force will be a direct violation of these treaties and will lead to the revision of the current format of joint work with Poland for the preservation and maintenance of places of memory and graves of polish soldiers and civilians on the territory of the Russian Federation, the document says. The chairman of the federation council valentina matviyenko said the decision of the polish authorities for "Blasphemous and cynical".
